Submit By Email Instructions

You can send images to your album by email.

In order to send your images or blog entries by email you must first add a "From" email address. This is the your email address from which you will be sending your entries.

Login to sharedlog.com with your username and password and click on the "E-Mail submit configure" link in the "Member" block.

You can add up to 3 different "From" email addresses for your account. For example, you can add your main email address, your work email address and your camera phone's email address - so you can send your images to your albums right from your cell phone.

After you submit your "From" email addresses you will see a message that contains your "To" email address.

You MUST write down that email address. You must send your posts and images to that email address. Each user gets a different "To" email address - that's how the system will know that submitted images belong to you.

Images must be send as attachments in .jpg, .gif, JPEG-2000 (.jp2), .tiff or .png format or several images can be send in a .zip (or .gz2 or .tar.gz) format.

The email body can contain a description of the image. Email can be in plaintext or html format.

Technical note: Basically when the server received emails it first verifies that email came from one of the registered "From" addresses and addressed to a matching "To" email address. This way, you don't need to include your username and password in the emails while it's still virtually impossible to forge the the sender/recipient.

Last note: the system processes received emails every 15 minutes, so it may take up to 15 minutes after your emails is received before your submitted images appear on the site.
